Going into their game with a strong mindset and a determination to win, the varsity Mastery Pumas won their first home game against William Tennet: 21-13. The team’s outstanding defensive and offensive line allowed them to execute plays and counteract their opponent. Two players that stood out the most throughout the game was the team’s senior running back and line backer, Isaiah Tann, 25, and Isaiah Freeman, 9. Starting off, Isaiah Tann started the first half of the game with outstanding touchdowns that put the team on the scoreboard. Not only did Tann score 2 touchdowns, he was able gain multiple rushing yards. The Pumas were able to react efficiently in the game causing 3 turnovers that gave them an advantage over the other team.
Forcing 2 out of the 3 turnovers was the team’s very own Isaiah Freeman, 9. Freeman has the mindset of going undefeated and ending his senior year with a championship. His highlight of the game happens to be when he was able to capture a fumbled ball and land a defensive touchdown. Overall, the team started the season off with excellence, hoping to continue their hard work leading up to the championships!
